For me, photography begins with looking rather than with a subject. I am drawn to the things within a scene that might easily be overlooked — a line leading the eye towards something in the distance, an unexpected relationship between two objects, or the structure of something created for an entirely practical purpose.

My subjects vary considerably, but the process remains consistent. I look for shapes, relationships, movement and moments within a space — and for the point at which they become worth photographing.

The photograph begins when I notice something. It is finished when I have made the viewer notice it too.
